Amazon Web Services (AWS) State and Local Government Health and Human Service team is leading a paradigm shift in how is cloud is transforming the delivery of health, healthcare, and social benefit programs. Our team is in search of an exceptionally qualified individual with expertise in cloud technology and Medicaid program experience at the state and local level of government.


As part of the Medicaid team, you will have an exciting opportunity to develop and deliver on a national strategy to help transform Medicaid programs across the country. You will drive the adoption of AWS for critical Medicaid technology systems that improve health outcomes for beneficiaries through system modernization.


You will bring an understanding of the Medicaid landscape and apply active listening, critical thinking, and creative approaches to help our customers solve their most critical problems with the help of cloud technologies. You will establish and execute strategic programs working with many AWS partners to identify existing solutions or identify opportunities for new development. You will learn, leverage, and bring to bear support from across AWS teams (including account managers, solutions architects, marketing, professional services, compliance, product, sales enablement, sales operations, and other related teams) to drive results for our customers.


Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To


  • Engage and build trusted partnerships with State Medicaid Agencies at the executive level (e.g., State Medicaid Director, Medicaid CIO, etc.).
  • Develop and execute strategies that drive partner and customer cloud adoption.
  • Serve as a highly credible expert on the Medicaid domain with AWS partners, customers, and internal AWS teams.
  • Work with AWS partners to develop repeatable solutions, programs, and models to accelerate and drive cloud adoption.
  • Develop joint go-to-markets and other solutions to create new opportunities with our partners.

Basic Qualifications



  • 10+ years in senior leadership position working with Medicaid program areas at the state or federal level
  • 10+ years’ experience working directly with or in a state on Medicaid technology projects (eg. Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS))
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in cloud technology
  • Demonstrated project experience in Medicaid MMIS technology implementations and/or business process improvements
  • Demonstrated project experience with Medicaid associations
  • A deep understanding of the technology and consulting vendors currently supporting State Medicaid Agencies
  • An appetite to disrupt the current Medicaid technology infrastructure limitations and challenges (both technology and policies) to promote cloud benefits such as scalability, flexibility and cost
  • An understanding of Medicaid and the relationship with sister organizations (e.g., Public Health, Health Information Exchanges, Community Based Organizations, Managed Care Plans, etc.)
  • Experience creating national go-to-market campaigns and repeatable solutions
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity
